Developments in the Built Environment - the man-made world surrounding us - move at a glacial pace. The 3-6 month design exercises experienced in university courses routinely turn into 3-6 year contracts, protracted by funding, legislation, permission, politics, and countless other impediments. The result is that those professionals, once young and enthusiastic, are more often than not battered into cynicism.
The world is changing, with scientific research and technological developments rapidly altering our way of life. Curiosity is the means by which we ensure the built environment keeps up with the world around us. Founded primarily as a research programme, we seek to generate new ideas from everyday observations, and develop a responsive and future-proofed environment.
